Los Angeles is home to many famous landmarks – The Walk of Fame, the La Brea Tar Pits, Skid Row. But take a look at one of its lesser-known spots: The Quality Café, a small diner that doesn’t really exist, but is a closed shop that is used for film shoots.
This mash-up video (made by Screen Junkies) highlights some of the more memorable moments at LA’s most popular non-existent lunch counter.

OMG. You have to listen to this all the way through. It gets better and better.

Urban ninjas with LADDERS!!!
One of those ladders might come in handy for the zombie apocalypse.

Firefly was a totally kick-ass show, but if you were to judge it solely on its opening credits, you might come away with a different opinion. The theme song sets the tone for “western,” but doesn’t really do anything to indicate “space adventure.” And that flat, grainy texture used in the letterbox-esque borders just looks lame. Take a look:
i09 has posted an alternate 80′s-style open that, while failing to accurately reflect the overall tone of the show, DOES manage to gear up the audience for a little bit more action and excitement. Check out the original post at io9 right here, but the video is just below.

No, the “Future Date” thing from yesterday wasn’t real. It was a HOAX!! So, to all of the people on Twitter/Facebook that believed it, well, you don’t know your BTTF history whatsoever. And I don’t apologize for insulting you to your face.
That being said, here is an BTTF story that is awesome, and true. The automatic laces from 2015 now officially exist in prototype form — so that gives Nike five years to make this happen. Just do it!

(of course it is, and quit calling me Shirley!)
30 years ago today marked the release of the Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker comedy masterpiece Airplane!, hands-down funniest parody film of all time (second only to the Naked Gun series, which were also created by ZAZ). This is one of those movies that when you flip to it on HBO, you will immediately stop what you’re doing and watch the rest of the film, whether you’re 10 minutes in or it’s midway through the (also funny) credit scroll.
To celebrate, here are TWO clips: the first is a compilation of scenes you will surely (ha! did it again!) remember, and another is a look back to the creation of “Jive Talk” – complete with subtitles.
If you can’t get enough of the Airplane! & Naked Gun stuff, check out Police Squad!, the six-episode TV series that was the precursor to Naked Gun movies – available from Amazon or on Netflix

Conan. Musical. This is one of the best things I’ve seen on the internet. They made another one based on Total Recall too.
