Firefly was a totally kick-ass show, but if you were to judge it solely on its opening credits, you might come away with a different opinion. The theme song sets the tone for “western,” but doesn’t really do anything to indicate “space adventure.” And that flat, grainy texture used in the letterbox-esque borders just looks lame. Take a look:
i09 has posted an alternate 80′s-style open that, while failing to accurately reflect the overall tone of the show, DOES manage to gear up the audience for a little bit more action and excitement. Check out the original post at io9 right here, but the video is just below.

Adidas and Star Wars have combined to offer some pretty sweet gear, and now the sneaker company has put together this ode to / remix of the Cantina scene from A New Hope. Lots of celeb cameos and the ending is hilarious…

Alejandro González Iñárritu, known for films such as Amores Perros, 21 Grams, and Babel, directed this stunning Nike World Cup commercial that is making its way around the internet today. You don’t need to be a soccer fan by ANY means to appreciate how well this thing works on so many levels. However, it MIGHT help to known that some of the soccer stars featured include Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Landon Donovan, and Ronaldinho, only because there are a few clever gags involving their names that you might otherwise miss.

Due to copyright infringement, many of the hysterical “Hitler Downfall” videos are being removed from Youtube. Don’t miss your chance to see Hitler react to this unfortunate news:
The greatest of the many ironies here is that the director of Downfall loves that this scene became an internet meme.

The resurgence of 2D platforming games on XBox Live Arcade has produced some of the best experiences I’ve had with the console over the past few months. Hacking through Castle Crashers with 3 friends was an absolute blast, and stealthily exploring the subterranean labyrinth of Shadow Complex provided an incredible blend of action-movie moments and Metroid-esque item hunting. At $15 a pop, these games are an incredible value, packing hours upon hours of nostalgic gameplay into a graphically-superb package. “Shank,” previewed here at Joystiq, appears to be carrying the torch (along with a chainsaw and dual-pistols, mind you). Looks good to me:
