Los Angeles is home to many famous landmarks – The Walk of Fame, the La Brea Tar Pits, Skid Row. But take a look at one of its lesser-known spots: The Quality Café, a small diner that doesn’t really exist, but is a closed shop that is used for film shoots.
This mash-up video (made by Screen Junkies) highlights some of the more memorable moments at LA’s most popular non-existent lunch counter.

No, the “Future Date” thing from yesterday wasn’t real. It was a HOAX!! So, to all of the people on Twitter/Facebook that believed it, well, you don’t know your BTTF history whatsoever. And I don’t apologize for insulting you to your face.
That being said, here is an BTTF story that is awesome, and true. The automatic laces from 2015 now officially exist in prototype form — so that gives Nike five years to make this happen. Just do it!
30 years ago today marked the release of the Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker comedy masterpiece Airplane!, hands-down funniest parody film of all time (second only to the Naked Gun series, which were also created by ZAZ). This is one of those movies that when you flip to it on HBO, you will immediately stop what you’re doing and watch the rest of the film, whether you’re 10 minutes in or it’s midway through the (also funny) credit scroll.
To celebrate, here are TWO clips: the first is a compilation of scenes you will surely (ha! did it again!) remember, and another is a look back to the creation of “Jive Talk” – complete with subtitles.
If you can’t get enough of the Airplane! & Naked Gun stuff, check out Police Squad!, the six-episode TV series that was the precursor to Naked Gun movies – available from Amazon or on Netflix

The penultimate season of Denis Leary’s groundbreaking comedic drama Rescue Me premieres next week on FX (all final 20 episodes have been filmed – they’re making two seasons out of it, with the last episodes airing in time with the 10th anniversary of 9/11).
To mark the occasion, series creators Leary and Peter Tolan invite you to look back at the eloquent language that helps make Rescue Me such a unique highbrow television event:
Turn up your speakers and point them towards your boss’ desk. He’ll love it.

In this recession, more and more formerly high-class shopping centers are dumping Nordstrom’s, Linens N Things, and Champs…and replacing them with Ross (the clothing store version of Big Lots).
But just cause you’re thrifty don’t mean you can’t be hip. Take a listen:
Thanks Amanda!

There’s a new FOD webseries, all about the U.S. Patent Office. Boring, right? Except this is one particular committee in said office, whose sole job is to approve patents on various sex acts.
Watch three actors known for very classy drama (Mad Men‘s Rich Sommer and Alison Brie, and The West Wing‘s Kathryn Joosten) say lots of dirty words in “The Committee”:

You probably know Hal Sparks as a former host of The Soup or for his hilarious turn as the cult leader Zoltan in Dude, Where’s My Car (one of the most underrated stoner comedies of the last decade). But did you know he’s also a great stand-up comedian? Well I do, because I’ve had the pleasure of seeing his act live, and watched a few videos of his here on this site. If you want to experience his stand-up, check out his all-new Showtime Special CHARMAGEDDON, premiering on June 4th!
