You probably know Hal Sparks as a former host of The Soup or for his hilarious turn as the cult leader Zoltan in Dude, Where’s My Car (one of the most underrated stoner comedies of the last decade). But did you know he’s also a great stand-up comedian? Well I do, because I’ve had the pleasure of seeing his act live, and watched a few videos of his here on this site. If you want to experience his stand-up, check out his all-new Showtime Special CHARMAGEDDON, premiering on June 4th!
“Remember When” is a new comedic webseries that reminds you to never let your friends assist you after an accident. After Elisha (played by Elisha Yaffe) gets injured playing backyard wrestling, his friends (played by Curt Neill, Alexander Barrett and Randy Liedtke) decide to jump-start his recovery.
Comedy masterminds David Cross and Will Arnett are currently starring a single-camera sitcom across the pond called The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret. Cross plays the title character and created the show, which also co-stars director Spike Jonze (Where the Wild Things Are, Adaptation). The big letdown? It’s only airing on Channel 4, the popular British independent television network. Hopefully HBO (the closest thing we have) will snatch up the rights to air this in the states soon. For now, here’s a clip:
I mean, c’mon, it’s David Cross and Will Arnett on UK TV. Of course they swear.
After BTC-Jack’s constant pressure since first viewing the trailer last year, a bunch of us all sat down a few months ago and watched a copy of Derrick Comedy’s first feature film, Mystery Team. Barring any unforeseen LOL moments in 2012, I’m pretty sure MT will rank as one of the top five funniest movies of the year. In short, it’s about a group of nerdy kid detectives who are still solving crimes together at the age of 18. The movie opens in select cities in a few weeks, and nationwide in October. Here’s a special short they made for this year’s Comic-Con:
A few weeks ago I stumbled upon my new favorite stand-up comedian while pathetically channel surfing late on a Friday night. I landed on a one-hour HBO special called Jim Jeffries: I Swear to God, and proceeded to laugh my ass off continuously for the duration of the Australian comedian’s set (true test of a stand-up that he / she can make you laugh while sitting alone on your living room couch; it’s truly meant to be a communal experience). Needless to say, I’ve been keeping Mr. Jeffries on my radar and recently caught him on the superb Adam Carolla Podcast, where he hilariously recounted the incident you see below (NSFW).
Honestly can’t imagine what it’s like to be totally in the zone of performing when a dude suddenly comes out of nowhere and starts wailing on you.
I wish I had found this site sooner. Web tie-in for the new season of Weeds, which debuted this week on Showtime. If you aren’t watching it, then you’re missing out on the best place to learn about the hilarious hijinks and the horrible realities that transpire when you start selling pot to raise your teenage kids. Plus, Mary Louise Parker gets naked from time to time. Do I need to say more? Probably not.
